Site Reliability Engineer

What we are looking for

We’re looking for a committed, dependable, and unabashedly detail-obsessed seasoned Reliability Engineer. This person will fill an essential role on our product team, overseeing the ongoing evolution of our continuous-delivery pipeline, guiding updates and improvements to our existing systems, and aiding in the role out of new platforms and technologies. The perfect fit for this role will have mission critical experience in deploying microservices to AWS, and a resume filled with examples of removing the roadblocks that stand between a developer and a reliable production release.

What you need to know

  • A high level of experience managing AWS infrastructures
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, ECS, and related orchestrations
  • Understanding of and experience with continuous integration and continuous deployment patterns and tools such as Jenkins
  • A strong understanding of modern system, network, and service-related security best practices
  • High level understanding of common programming processes
  • Familiar with network design/segmentation
  • Familiar with HA environments: load-balanced services, database and storage systems, fault-tolerant systems
  • Familiar with separation of infrastructure concerns: principle of least knowledge/privilege, secure by default, etc.

What you may be doing

  • Configuring, monitoring, and managing AWS infrastructure
  • Launching and maintaining ECS or Kubernetes clusters
  • Ensuring product uptime SLAs and resolving issues or outages to ensure business continuity
  • Automating and orchestrating configuration, monitoring, and deployment processes
  • Configuring microservices for automated deployment
  • Reviewing and improving existing security measures
  • Researching and installing new third-party technologies (e.g. databases)
  • Working with developers to find solutions to release impediments
  • Coordinating testing of new and existing features for each release
  • Maintaining and supporting segregated development, testing, staging, and production environments
  • Launching and maintaining siloed data warehouses
  • Contributing to internal technical documentation, including writing and maintaining runbooks
  • Collaborating with the Engineering and Customer Support teams to find, investigate, prioritize, and track DevOps-related issues
