Security

Q
How do users access the system?
A
Access to the Rehearsal platform is made via email address and password. Password requirements are configurable per account, and all passwords are stored according to the procedures laid out in RFC 2898.
Q
Does Rehearsal support SAML?
A
Rehearsal supports SAML 2.0 out of the box.
Q
Does Rehearsal support non-SAML single sign-on technologies?
A
While there are too many single sign-on (SSO) technologies to answer broadly in the affirmative, Rehearsal has been integrated with a number of non-standard authentication systems.
Q
Does the Rehearsal support team use a master account to access accounts?
A
Yes, each new account includes a special support account. This user has administrative access, and is used during initial setup for support and guidance. You may, however, disable or delete the account at any point.
Q
Where is the data stored?
A
Rehearsal data is stored in the Amazon Web Services cloud. Files are held in Amazon’s secure S3 platform and data is stored in an MSSQL database running on Amazon’s RDS platform.
Q
Do I need to make changes to my firewall?
A
The Rehearsal application in general requires no changes to your firewall. Video recording is done via RTMP, which is a protocol devised by Adobe specifically for streaming video. This protocol will initially attempt to connect to Rehearsal servers via port 1935. If that fails, it will fall back to a tunneled version of the protocol (RTMPT) that transmits as standard HTTP traffic. Note that the switch between RTMP and RTMPT is triggered by a response from the firewall. If the packets are dropped without sending a response, the recorder will wait 3 seconds before switching to RTMPT.
Q
Will Rehearsal use my proxy server?
A
Yes. The tunneled version of the video streaming protocol used by Rehearsal (RTMPT) will respect any proxy configuration you have set.
